Zip Zing Flip Flop

Music for Fun!

Bob worked with music educator Marilyn Davidson to make this very creative music curriculum for children ages 4-8. These lessons were prepared to help teachers provide a conceptually balanced, meaningful, and light-hearted music class. All Music for Fun materials are correlated to the MENC National Music Standards.

The CD included with the Teacher’s Edition features lesson sequences by Marilyn Davidson that are based on 7 songs recorded by Bob. There are a wealth of other listening examples as well, including Folk favorites, Classical listening examples, sound effects for listening, a spiritual, and a Big Band example called Satin Doll for a total of 24 tracks. 4 songs appear in the book and CD to illustrate various musical styles. Sing, with signing gestures included, is the encore.

Students have their own book that’s in full color and includes punch-out puppets to use with music listening activities.

Praise

  • “As an elementary school music teacher, I’m always looking for new material that will stimulate the children and me. Music for Fun certainly has the goods. The songs are fun, which would be enough. But the teaching suggestions are what make this book so special. Each lesson is filled with lots of creative and stimulating suggestions for singing, moving, and playing instruments that are sure to appeal to every kind of child. And to top it all off, the children are actually learning musical concepts while they are having fun. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has young children.” – Ellen Mendelsohn
